Here are some helpful tips to prevent dry eyes:

  • Use computer glasses with blue light protection and anti-glare lens coating
  • If you use heat in your house, use a humidifier
  • Wear wrap around sunglasses on windy days
  • Let your Optometrist know if you are on any medication, certain medications cause dry eye symptoms
  • Consider switching to contact lenses that are more suited for people with dry eyes such as Scleral lenses and soft daily disposables.
  • Avoid cigarette smoke
  • Make sure you take a break every 20 minutes for 20 seconds and look 20 feet away when using digital devices such as computers and cell phones
  • Practice full blinks and blink often when you are on the computer
  • Ask your optometrist about vitamins for dry eyes such as Omega 3
  • The best advice is to visit our optometrist, Dr. Cohan and get advice for your specific situation
