Advanced Eye Care & Contact Lens Fitting

Chronic dry eyes can lead to much more than redness and itchiness. Dry eye syndrome is a condition that can severely affect your quality of life by impairing vision, causing painful symptoms, and limiting your ability to perform many daily tasks. Our dry eye specialists, Dr. Todd Cohan, and Dr. Jacqueline Cozzone, are knowledgeable about the most effective therapies to relieve the irritation of dry eyes and restore your smooth, comfortable vision.
Typically, people with dry eyes experience itching, burning/stinging, light sensitivity, gritty feeling, blurred vision, watery eyes, limited night vision, and uncomfortable contact lenses wearing. If these sensations sound familiar, there is no reason to suffer in silence! We will evaluate your condition thoroughly to recommend the most helpful dry eye treatment, which may include:
- Artificial tears or prescription eye drops
- Antibiotics, steroid eye drops, or lubricant inserts
- Punctal plugs
- Blephex Eyelid Exfoliation
- LipiFlow therapy for Meibomian gland dysfunction
- Prokera amniotic disks
- Adjusting medication, your contact lens prescription or wearing schedule
After your eye exam and consultation, we will match you with a dry eye treatment that works!
Myopia, more commonly known as nearsightedness, makes it hard to see objects and anything far in the distance. For example, you may be able to read a book held in your hands, but not be able to read a road sign across the street. With children, myopia often worsens continually, and yearly eye exams will diagnose a need for a stronger vision prescription. Many parents wonder if there is an effective method to control myopia?
Myopia control is a hot topic amongst eye doctors nowadays, and many scientific studies are ongoing. While total prevention of myopia isn’t possible, there are treatments to slow the deterioration, such as ortho-k lenses and multifocal contact lenses. Myopia control is one of our specialties in our Long Grove, IL, advanced eye care center.
Vision problems in children are common, and the types of conditions are not limited to nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. There is a variety of non-refractive vision disorders, all of which can be diagnosed by our eye doctors during a pediatric eye exam. These challenges include poor focusing skills, amblyopia (“lazy eye”), misaligned eyes, visual perceptual disorders, and difficulty with convergence – and they can easily interfere with a child’s learning and performance in school. Treatment involves vision therapy, a custom-designed program of eye exercises and visual tasks.
Dr. Todd Cohan, the recipient of ICO’s College of Optometrists in Vision Development Award, is your leading local specialist in vision therapy. He works closely with school educators on detecting and treating learning-related vision problems in school-aged children. If your child complains about headaches, eyestrain, and fatigue, or has trouble with reading, writing, and coordination, these are all potential signs that vision therapy is needed.
Keratoconus and many dystrophies and corneal issues affect the shape of the cornea. Once the natural round form of the eye is lost, vision quality suffers and fitting contact lenses become more complicated. To correct keratoconus and corneal irregularities and provide clear vision, contact lenses need to create a new, smooth corneal surface. That’s where scleral lenses come into the picture!
These specialized hard lenses have an extra-wide diameter that vaults over your cornea to rest on the whites of your eyes. The unique shape and rigid material of scleral contact lenses give crisp optics and comfortable vision to many people with keratoconus, high astigmatism, and post-surgery complications.
Our eye doctor has extensive experience fitting these customized contacts with incredible results. If you have keratoconus or any type of irregular cornea, our eye doctor will measure your cornea precisely to custom-make a pair of contact lenses that is perfect for you!
